History of Farukhnagar

Farukhanagar, 20 km from Gurugram in Haryana, was inhabited by Mohammad Fauzdar Khan, the commander of Farrukhsiyar. The Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah Rangeela made Fauzdar Khan the Nawab of Farukhnagar. The Maharaja of Bharatpur attacked Farukhanagar in 1757 and the town remained in his possession for seven years. Later Ghaziuddin, the Wazir of Emperor Shah Alam, brought the Nawab back to Farukhnagar.

At the time of the mutiny of 1857, Fauzdar Khan's heir Ahmed Ali was the Nawab of Farukhnagar. This town was merged with Gurugram due to his participation in the fight against the British. At that time salt was made on a large scale in Farukhnagar and hence the town has a railway station since then.
